From Hitting to Digging

In March 9 to 11, 2023, the middle school volleyball team of Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS) attended the first ever SCISAC volleyball tournament of 2023 that was held at Xiamen International School (XIS). With the hard work of the coaches, Mr. Mitchel Africa and Steven Wu (a grade 10 student), both the MXIS middle school girls and boys volleyball teams were awarded 3rd place in the closing ceremony at the Marco Polo Hotel in Xiamen. During the three-day tournament, the students played against other schools that came from different places in China and developed not only new skills in volleyball but also admirable friendships among the players with each other. The students also gained valuable experience in teamwork, sportsmanship, and discipline that will benefit them not only in sports but also in their future endeavors. The achievement of both teams is a testament to the dedication and commitment of the coaches and hard work of students. The competition was tough, but the students showed great sportsmanship and teamwork. It was truly a fun and memorable experience for all the student athletes.
