WSC Global Shanghai Round 2021

Last July, the MYP 1 students joined the World Scholar’s Cup Global Round in Shanghai. Congratulations to the MXIS Egrets Scholars Juniors for qualifying for the Tournament of Champions in Yale University, USA. Keep soaring high Egrets!

GRC Summer Camp 2021

MYP and DP students volunteered at the GuanRen Community Center during the second children’s summer camp hosted by GRC and MXIS from July 26 to 30.

2021 FBOA Guangzhou

Congratulations to Liquid Gold Company for winning the Best Roadshow Presentation Award. Alex Wong also received the MVP award among all the leaders during the operation skills challenge last August 21 to 23.

Mooncake Festival

Students had their Mooncake Festival Dice games at their respective homeroom classes.

Halloween Celebration

It’s October! The month of Halloween! Spooky, fancy, cute, amazing costumes in this year’s school Halloween Celebration. Happy Halloween Everyone!

TEDxMXIS

The TEDxMXIS, prepared by Kevin Yeo, Alex Wong, and Morris Lin from the Manila Xiamen International School for the past few months with the supervision of Mr. Mitchel Africa, has been hosted on November 24 at SM New Lifestyle Center with a number of 300 audiences from different international schools and 6 speakers from various institutions and organizations. As being a TEDxCountdown event, the theme of climate change and sustainability has been discussed by the inspiring talks by the speakers. Students also produced art posters and photography works, which were exhibited in the SM Topaz building.

MUNOX 2021

With 208 delegates from 8 different international school around China, the Model United Nations of Xiamen 2021 was hosted at Hyatt Regency Hotel Xiamen from December 3 to 5 by the Manila Xiamen International School. Delegates debated and formulated solutions on global issues such as COVID-19, Human Rights Crisis, Economic Empowerment of Women.

ASDAN Business Simulation 2021

We come not just to win, we came to conquer! Both junior and senior team of the Manila Xiamen International School received the GOLD Award (Champions) in the ASDAN Business Simulation Xiamen Round last December 11 to 12 against 300 participants in 43 teams. Congratulations to the MXIS Business and Finance Club as well for the hard work on training the teams.

2022 WSC Regional Round Fuzhou

The success of the team is each team member and the success of each team member is the team! Congratulations to MXIS Egret Scholars. Team 848 (Nilabh, Roman, Sam) won the Overall senior champions (debate, team-bowl, team-challenge, collaborative-writing). The junior teams also reached high ranks and got qualified for the WSC Global Round. MXIS WSC Club leader Nilabh Anand also won the Asimov Award and the overall top scholar during the competition. Thanks to Roman Go for assisting the trainings and winning 3rd overall scholar. Keep soaring high Egrets!

2022 Chinese New Year

Year of the Tiger! To celebrate the Chinese New Year, MYP and DP students had their food sales with different Chinese traditional dishes. Together with the lower school, students also prepared Chinese traditional performances such as poem narrating and songs. Happy New Year everyone!

Health and Nutrition Month Awareness 2022

The Pre-School and Lower School department students participated in the Health and Nutrition Month Awareness activity on March 4 at the school campus, learned about healthy foods. Grade 4 and 5 students also tried cooking their own healthy food as their lunch.

Earth Day Instagram Live

On April 21, MXIS student representatives have gone in the TakeActionEdu Instagram live, presented their inspiring projects on our planet. In celebration of the Earth Day, our school has ben chosen among 24 different schools from 17 different nations around the world. Students discussed, presented, and tackled about actionable solutions on this global issue of climate change.

MXIS Earth Day Celebration

The MYP and DP students celebrated Earth Dat together at the school gym. Students tackled on the 17 Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. They identified global issues on each SDG, divided into groups to discuss and formulate realistic solutions for our planet Earth.

GuanRen Community Center Volunteering

The MYP 5 students have worked as volunteers on the GuanRen Community Family Treasure Hunt Competition.

2022 FISSCA Middle School Basketball Tournament

A successful tournament where boys team were undefeated and bagged the champions trophy and the girls team fought hard and achieved second place.

HSBC Bank Opening Day

The MXIS Business and Finance Club have participated in the HSBC Bank Opening Day on May 21. This activity provided students with relevant financial knowledges and cultivate the vision of professional economic and financial education by carrying out basic courses of financial investment and open social practice bases.

MXIS TED Ed Club

After a successful TED Ed Student Talks Conference last May, 2021, the second cohort of the MXIS TED Ed Club officially began. The club supports students as they discover, explore and present their big ideas in the form of short, TED-style talks. This is in an extracurricular setting and brings several personal and global ideas and issues to the school classroom. The Club members are currently preparing for the next TED Ed Student Talk Conference.

English Language Day 2022

The English Language Day 2022 has been successfully held in the school IB conference room on May 27 with the supervision of Mrs. Theresa Legatam. The MYP 1 students took part of the spelling bee program. The vocabulary was based from “Wonder” by R. J. Palacio, a book they have discussed during their Language and Literature class. Students also presented entertaining song and dance performances.

2022 CORE and ATL Day

The 2022 CORE and ATL Day has officially hosted from June 9 to 10 at Vienna International Hotel. MYP 5 students presented their Personal Projects and their Action & Service Portfolios. DP 2 students presented their Extended Essay and CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) Projects to the audiences. An exhibition that reflected all the hard works of the MYP and DP students throughout the whole school year were set. Exhibition included DP TOK (Theory of Knowledge), MYP Design, Individuals and Societies, Integrated Science, and Language and Literature.

2022 TED Ed Student Talks Conference

IDEAS WORTH SPREADING! The second TED Ed Student Talks Conference was hosted by the MXIS TED Ed Club at Vienna International Hotel on June 10 with 22 speakers with various topics such as time-management, food wastage, friendships, empathy, multi-tasking, endangered animals, and personal developments being discussed. With the lead of Kevin Yeo, TED Ed Club Leader, Silvia Chung, Kenny Li, and Levana Yau, Exploration Leaders, together with the supervision of Mrs. Theresa Legatam and Mr. Mitchel Africa, speakers have successfully shared their passions and ideas that they have worked throughout the 5 months in the MXIS TED Ed Club out to the audiences and guests.

Heathers: The Musical

Heathers: The Musical, the first student-directed musical and the first Manila Xiamen International School production since the COVID-19 pandemic, has been successfully hosted in the school multi-usage gym on June 11 with more than 200 audiences from the Xiamen community, which included students, parents, teachers, and guests. The outcome of the hard works by Cielo Go, musical director, and all castings and staff members have contributed to the great success of the event.

2022 Lower School Culminating Event

At the school gym, an exhibition of various works done by the lower school students throughout the whole school year were presented. Students also prepared class performances. Grade 5 students also had a mini bazaar, sold snacks to the visitors. Great outcomes from the lower school department!

2022 WSC Regional Round Xiamen

Once again, the MXIS Egret Scholars dominated the World Scholar’s Cup tournament held in Xiamen this year. Twelve students from lower school and middle school departments joined the tournament, received various awards on collaborative writing, team debate, and team bowl. Keep soaring high Egret Scholars.
