On the evening of February 25, the seniors of the Manila Xiamen International School gathered at Le Meridien Hotel Xiamen to participate in prom night. It was the first prom night celebration since the beginning of the pandemic situation in Xiamen. Students were in their formal attire and entered the grand ballroom. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and joy as the students danced to the music played by the live band. Everyone seemed to be having a great time after such a long break from social events.
Several celebrations were done in honor of the program. Students listened to the “Class Will and Testament” and “Class Prophecy” of the graduating batch, hoping for a smooth future career. A Turn-Over Ceremony was also done, where the grade 12 students passed down the Book of Knowledge and the Key of Responsibility to the grade 11 class. The ceremony was a symbolic gesture of passing on the responsibility of leadership and academic excellence to the next batch of students. It was a reminder that they are now the torchbearers of their school’s legacy and traditions.

The enjoyment continued to build up as students showcased their talent with their dances that they worked hard for, rehearsing for days. One group dance performance by Grades 9 to 12 students was to the song “Uptown Funk” by Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars. The audience, including parents and teachers, were impressed by the students’ performances and cheered them on. It was a whole lot of fun and a memorable night for all participants.
