Together We Can Change the World

On April 14, MXIS students gathered in the gym to commemorate the annual Earth Day ceremony. Twelve distinct groups of students are formed, each with a group leader from the grade 11 class to help manage and guide the lower grades. Students began learning various facts about the earth after completing group formation. Students had the opportunity to learn various information about Earth Day and how we can use it to raise awareness of various international environmental issues. Beyond that, students at MXIS spend time learning about the world while also having fun, participating in guessing activities in which they are given a question concerning Earth Day and must use critical thinking to determine one of four possible answers. Students receive incentives and prizes after winning.
To top it all off, just like Earth Day last year, our students from each of the 12 groups are instructed to create persuasive and impactful videos to address environmental issues. Students should consider strategies and solutions for halting various environmental problems, such as animal maltreatment, pollution, and habitat loss. Students must also produce inventive live action videos about their potential solutions and put them into a video. This enhances a student’s ability to think critically and contribute ideas as a whole. All of the students produced fantastic and compelling films. This not only enhances a student’s thinking skills but also collaboration skills and teaches them how teamwork is like “individually we are one drop, but together we are an ocean.” Additionally, our students will develop slogans on how to maintain the cleanliness of our environment. Again, in order to implement a great slogan, students must use their critical thinking and teamwork skills. Once more, students were able to produce outstanding works with amazing art and fresh and original concepts. Thus, at the end of the day, our students not only learned a great deal but also had a great time making new friends and expressing creative ideas, which makes Earth Day in MXIS a truly remarkable event.
The annual celebration of Earth Day honours the accomplishments of the environmental movement and promotes the importance of preserving the planet’s natural resources for coming generations. The official date for this holiday is April 22, 2021, which in Chinese is known as 世界地球日 Shìjiè Dìqiú Rì. It’s a great and fun way to raise awareness of the importance of environmental protection (环境保护 huánjìng bǎohù). China has been coping with air pollution for decades. Chinese people have now started to realize that in many ways, the pollution is caused by their daily activities. As awareness grows, more and more people in China join in celebrating World Earth Day, an important event to promote environmental protection. Since China’s economy has developed quickly the Chinese government has been actively promoting environmental protection across the country.
The Earth Day objective is now supported year-round by the Earth Day Network (EDN), which unites more than 20,000 partners and organizations in 190 countries. This objective is based on the idea that everyone has a moral right to a healthy, sustainable environment, regardless of their color, gender, income, or location. This goal is pursued by the Earth Day Network through action, advocacy, and public policy efforts. Each year, more than 1 billion people participate in these initiatives, making them one of the biggest public, nonreligious events in the world. Therefore, our school puts extra effort into creating annual celebrations once every year to better help mold students into doing what is great for our earth with love, care, and enthusiasm.
