Egret Carrier Interview #3

Personal Style and Accomplishments on Learning and Development

Meet Yeo, Jayoung (Jane), a Grade 9 student studying in the Manila Xiamen International School, engaged in various school club and activities.

— What subjects or topics are you most interested in, and what do you find compelling about them?

I favor subjects that require artistic mind because they reflect how colorful the world is and can become.

— What extracurricular activities, community service or volunteer work have you been involved in, and why did you choose those activities?

The extracurricular activities of our school that I have attended were MUNOX and TEDEd Student Talk, and I also have an experience of volunteering in a community. I decided to attend these activities as interactive events contribute to socialization.

— Do you learn best through visual, auditory, or kinesthetic methods?

I think kinesthetic approach is the most effective method especially when there are many things that I have to memorize.

— Who are some of your role models, and what qualities do they possess that you admire?

I have never set a particular role model, but I pursue to become a sincere, considerate and persistent person.

— How do you use technology in your daily life and in school, and what tools or resources do you find most helpful?

Daily life is made up of various technologies so it is hard to just mention one specific tool. But considering the schoolwork in precedence, I think iPad is what I use the most.

— How have you changed as a person over the past few years, and what experiences have contributed to your growth and development?

I think I established my identity over the past few years just like how most teenagers do as they age. All the experiences collectively shaped me and formed the concept and sense of self.

— What accomplishments are you most proud of, and why do they hold significance for you?

I can’t think of any accomplishment that makes me proud. After all, I believe that accomplishment shouldn’t bear big significance in oneself.

— What is something new that you’ve tried recently, and what did you learn from that experience?

Recently, I tried serving as a club leader, and through this chance, I got to understand a bit more of how to be a good leader.

— Who are some people in your life who have had a positive impact on your personal growth and development, and how have they influenced you?

Talking about who helped me to grow, I can never exclude my parents. Their love and support are what allow me to become who I am.

— What advice would you give to other students based on your personal experience?

Everyone encounters a different situation, and even I often find myself in new circumstances. So, the only thing I can say is to distinguish the righteous truth. But this is more of an advice to myself.
