Egret Carrier Interview #1

As a Future Pride of MXIS

Meet Lean, Shu Yi

Hello! My name is Shu Yi, a Grade 7 student from Malaysia. I am mainly interested in playing piano and participating in many activities.

Describe your Middle Years Programme (MYP) life.

I believe the Middle Years Programme is challenging but have various interesting opportunities and activities than the lower school department. This made me to interact with more students from different grade levels. What I notice from MYP was that this curriculum values more on teamwork and collaboration than individual works.

What do you think is the main motivation that made you gain several achievements in extra-curricular activities?

Personally, I always aim for a high position on various aspects, including my academics and other competitions I join. Several competitions always make me understand my skills and know on which part I should improve on. Extra-curricular activities develop me into a more knowledgeable and skillful person. It lets me learn more academic and life lessons.

What are your academic and career goals?

I want to maintain a good grade in this school while also keep diving into new aspects. I wish I could sustain my progress and experiences now, and continue to develop myself into a better person. Although I’m not sure with my future career goals, with continuous developments and improvements within myself, I believe I could reach my dreams and goals.

What do you think are the most important skills for success in the classroom and beyond?

I believe when students are assigned to a task given, they have to put full effort to it. This is related to time management as well since the more you focus on your work given, you could finish your tasks within a short period of time, allowing you to try new things while achieving good grades.

What are your future plans in this school?

I will continue to develop and improve myself, efficiently use my time to try new activities in and off campus. I want to improve my limitations throughout my MXIS career.
