Step Forward to Become an Entrepreneur

Some people dream of becoming a successful entrepreneur or a billionaire, but becoming a successful entrepreneur is more challenging than many people think, and the effort behind it is still being determined. However, there is an extracurricular activity that provides a chance to experience life and different situations that businessmen encounter – the Business Simulation. Business Simulation, organized by (ASDAN), is a competitive program that seeks to enhance students’ strategic and logistical knowledge of managing a business. Students will develop a commercial product based on a predetermined topic, choose every element of their firm, including its culture and manufacturing requirements, and then use that knowledge to persuade potential investors to invest. And this year, students from the Manila Xiamen International School (MXIS) attended the World Youth Economic Finance (WYEF), regarded as the final round of the Business Simulation. WYEF National Finals was initially planned to be held in Shanghai. However, due to the pandemic, WYEF 2022 was held in Foshan from 28th to the 31st of July.

The WYEF 2022 was the first WYEF that our students attended, but they were able to bring home success, demonstrating excellent teamwork and communication abilities. Our school expedited two groups: a senior group and a junior group, which Mr. Mitchel Africa supervised and led by a grade 11 student, Wong, Yanki (Alex), who is also the club chairman of MXIS Business and Finance Club. The senior division members were Alex Wong, Ashley Chen, Elly Kim, Evita Lai, Kevin Yeo, and Roman Go. They have achieved the Partnership Excellence Award, Global Entrepreneurship Award, and Best Entrepreneurship Award. The junior group: Audrey Wong, Dora Li, Kyle Kim, Levana Yau, Ray Chung, Sam Lin, Silvia Chung, and Tim Lyu, also gained awards in the aspect of Mobility Innovator, Outstanding Booth Design, Partnership Excellence, Best Strategist, and the Best Entrepreneurship.

This WYEF has proven that our students have many possibilities to become better and successful in the realm of business. So, let’s all look forward to their improved and even excellent performance next time.
